Welcome

I have long had a fascination with the grotesque in art and popular culture. The twisted paintings of Hieronymus Bosch, the unsettling cinema of David Lynch and the sometimes brutal fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm all satisfy the description of grotesque. It is defined as “ugly and distorted” but surely there is also beauty to be found. For me the grotesque is the opposite of the banal.

My art mainly concerns representations of the body. I sometimes find the distorted/abstracted more pleasing than the more academic approach to figural representation.
